Vietnamese singer Hoa Minzy’s ‘Bac Bling’ tops YouTube debut chart, surpassing Blackpink’s Lisa

Vietnamese singer Hoa Minzy’s music video “Bac Bling” secured the top position on YouTube’s Top Debut Songs chart from Feb. 28 to March 6, surpassing Blackpink’s Lisa and her song “FXCK UP THE WORLD.

The video also led YouTube’s Top Debut Music Videos chart for the same period, accumulating 19.5 million views and outperforming high-profile releases such as Lisa’s “Born Again” and G-Dragon’s “Drama.”

By March 11, “Bac Bling” maintained its top debut ranking, reached 15th place on YouTube’s Top Songs chart, and secured 4th place on the Trending Music Videos list.

As of March 13, it remained in the top five most-viewed music videos daily, with 3.4 million views per day.

Released on March 1, “Bac Bling” is a collaboration between Hoa Minzy and fellow Bac Ninh artists, including comedian Xuan Hinh, known as the “King of Northern Comedy,” and musician Tuan Cry.

Bac Ninh, located near Hanoi, is famous for its traditional folk music, Quan Ho. The music video highlights key cultural landmarks such as Do Temple, Dau Pagoda, and Phu Lang Pottery Village, as well as local traditions like betel chewing, folk singing, and annual festivals.

Hoa Minzy said the song’s title modifies “Ninh” to “Bling” to symbolize Bac Ninh’s radiance and aspirations for a global presence.

Hoang Quang Le, CEO of Techbeat Records, told Tri Thuc & Znews: “Bac Bling’s success is not only a major milestone in Hoa Minzy’s career but also a positive sign for Vietnam’s music industry. It proves that Vietnamese music can compete internationally and make a global impact.”

Born Nguyen Thi Hoa, the 30-year-old singer first gained recognition after winning the first season of “Star Academy” in 2014. In February 2022, she ended her five-year relationship with a businessman and is now a single mother raising her five-year-old son.
